Cows aren’t the only animal contributing to Wisconsin dairy reputation. Goats play a role in America’s Dairyland, too. Nobody knows goats better than Fond du Lac County.
Amy Reis of Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Agri-Business Council and Jessi Schoofs of LaClare Family Creamery tell the Mid-West Farm Report the region claims to be the dairy goat capital of the U.S. You can join the goats and their farmers for breakfast on Sunday, June 27 at LaClare, just northeast of Fond du Lac from 8 a.m. to noon.
Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s Agri-Business Council is hosting the 32nd annual Breakfast on the Farm during National Dairy Month. Fond du Lac County celebrity guests, including Alice in Dairyland and Miss Wisconsin, will be among the 200 volunteers serving an expected 4,000 guests, Reis said.
A large country-style breakfast will include eggs with ham and cheese, pork sausage, cheesy potatoes, applesauce, coffee and milk. Culver’s custard and LaClare Family Creamery goat ice cream sundae tickets are also available for purchase for $1.
Tickets are $8 in advance and $9 at the farm; children five and under are free. Buy tickets at Envision Greater Fond du Lac’s building or website, LaClare Family Creamery, and many local banks.
