The Dane County Farmers’ 2021 Saturday Market will open on Saturday, April 10 at Dane County’s Alliant Energy Center. “While we have strict safety precautions in place, we are excited to once again connect local farmers and small food producers with the members of the greater-Madison community in a more traditional farmers’ market setting,” says DCFM Co-Manager Jamie Bugel.
Beginning this Saturday, April 10th, the DCFM will host a weekly Saturday Market in the large parking lot in front of the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center, with adjacent free customer parking. The Market will be open from 7am to 12pm. This market is a traditional farmers’ market with primarily spontaneous shopping. Additionally, customers may choose to pre-order products and pick them up on foot from each vendor. There is no drive-thru pick up on Saturdays. The DCFM’s online store, powered by WhatsGood, opens for pre-orders at 8am on Wednesday and closes at 5pm on Thursday if customers would like to place pre-orders for the Saturday Market. Not all the vendors present at the Saturday Market are participating in the pre-order option.
Please visit the DCFM’s Safe Shopper Code of Conduct for information on the safety precautions. At this time, Dane County Emergency Order #15 removing the outdoor mask mandate will not change the safety measures in place. “We ask that all customers respect the six-foot physical distancing, but we also understand that there may be instances during the typical shopping experience, where customers and vendors are occasionally less than 6ft apart,” says DCFM Co-Manager Jill Carlson Groendyk, “Out of the utmost caution, we request that vendors and customers continue to respect the mask requirement.”
The DCFM is also continuing to offer the pre-order/drive-thru Local Food Pick Up on Wednesdays from 3-6pm. The DCFM’s website has detailed instructions on how to place a pre-order and how to travel to and thru the Wednesday Local Food Pick Up.
Dane County Farmers’ Market is grateful for the on-going support of Dane County and the Alliant Energy Center and is confident that the Saturday Market will return to the Wisconsin State Capitol Square sometime in the summer of 2021. The exact date is not yet known.
