The 4th Annual Hill & Valley Exploration Tour – A Celebration of Rural Living – will be held the last two weekends of September, Sept 19-20 and Sept 26-27. The Hill & Valley Exploration Tour is a cooperative venture of 12 unique rural farms, businesses, historic sites, educational institutes, and artist studios located in Sauk & Richland Counties that strives to connect rural venues with consumers, cooperatively advertise for economic development, assist young farmers, and provide hands-on education about our vital agricultural community. The Hill & Valley Exploration Tour is an economic revitalization effort through the creation of a direct marketing system for local products and food.
New to the tour this year is the Community Kickoff Event – Friday, September 18, 2020 – at the Reedsburg City Park Band Shell, starting at 5 PM. Live music by Union Road and Wood – fired Oven Pizza by Branding Iron Roadhouse as well as other refreshments available for purchase. To cap off the tour on Sunday, September 27, a celebration of the 4th Annual Hill and Valley Exploration Tour and Fundraiser for the 5th Annual Tour, the Fall Harvest Farm Dinner is a true farm-to-fork dining event. Held in the field at the beautiful home farmstead of Kathy and Frank Dwyer, the Fern Creek Retreat, Hillpoint, WI, this event epitomizes the best of rural living with beautiful vistas and incredible, fresh food. Ingredients for all dishes are sourced from the participants of the Hill and Valley Exploration Tour. This event is a ticketed event and requires advance online registration.
Returning to the Hill & Valley Exploration Tour is the Picturing Sauk County Trail. These decorated metal frames are set up at various locations on the tour, providing opportunities for photos while enjoying the views of the gorgeous landscapes of Northern Sauk and Richland Counties. Tourists are invited to share their photos to the official Instagram account, @picturingsaukcounty. Keep your eyes peeled for Colossal Hay Art Sculptures along the way installed by local farmers for your viewing entertainment.
