Members of the agriculture community are invited to attend a FREE seminar entitled, “Adding Science to Cover Crops – A Crop Consultant’s Perspective,” on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
The evening’s activities will begin at the farm of Tom Burlingham, located at N1718 Hwy. E in Palmyra, Wisconsin, where a presentation will be given on Growing Cover Crops after Winter Wheat. The event will continue at the Sullivan farm of Tom Novak, owner of Total Crop Management LLC, where a pizza dinner will be served. Jim Stute, a farmer and project consultant, will then present a talk entitled, “Do Cover Crops Pay? Results from Local On-Farm Research.” This will be followed by a discussion by Mr. Novak about, “On-Farm Trials: What They Can Do For You.”
According to Darrell Smith, Ag Coordinator for Farmers for Lake Country, “The event will be a great opportunity to learn about building soil health using cover crops, and how this relates to farm productivity and profitability, while helping the environment too.” The event will be outdoors and socially-distanced to keep everyone safe. Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair.
The event is FREE, but advance registration is requested. For more information and to register, please contact Tall Pines Conservancy at 262-369-0500, visit www.farmersforlakecountry.org or e-mail [email protected].
The seminar is made possible by the support of the Oconomowoc Watershed Protection Program, Tall Pines Conservancy and the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin.
