As soon as the Wisconsin Stat Fair was called off, a group of passionate agriculture supporters knew they had to do something. There was no way that they were going to allow youth exhibitors that lost their State Fair to go an entire summer without exhibiting their animals. It was with that notion that the Wisconsin Livestock Expo was born. Set for August 9th-14th at the Racine County Fairgrounds, this show is ready to roll.
The show will feature beef, sheep, and swine and was only open to youth exhibitors that live in Wisconsin. On top of the market animal classes, showmanship will also be taking place at the Expo. Mia Bayer, a Livestock Expo Executive Board member, says that a total of 670 exhibitors are registered for the event. According to Bayer, 630 hogs will be shown at the event, while there will be roughly 375 lambs and 325 head of cattle.
There will be a show ring but exhibitors will be penned in their trailer. Social distancing is encouraged and organizers are asking that exhibitors bring their own mask. Each species will be there at a different time so all participants aren’t on the fairgrounds at one time. For a full show schedule you can visit the Wisconsin Livestock Expo’s website. Hopefully this will be the first and last Expo and the Wisconsin State Fair can safely return in 2021.
