According to Secretary-Designee Randy Romanski of DATCP, the money that farmers applied for through the Wisconsin Farm Support Program has been sent out via check or direct deposit. If you requested that the money be delivered by check in the mail, your money was sent out on Tuesday, July 14th. If you asked to receive the funds via direct deposit, that money was distributed on Wednesday, July 15th.
More than 14,500 Wisconsin farmers applied to receive money from the state and Romanski says the average payment for those that applied will be about $3,500. The application process was done entirely online through the Department of Revenue and took about 10-15 minutes.
In an interview with Farm Director Pam Jahnke, Romanski said that an additional window for applications will open up on August 10th and run through August 24th. One change that will occur with the next application period is that the minimum farm gross income will be lowered to $10,000 as opposed to $35,000 as it was the first time around.
