Livestock shows are popping up all over Wisconsin as an alternate way for youth to exhibit, and sometimes sell, their 4-H and FFA livestock projects originally scheduled for their county fair.
Friday and Saturday a group of parents and supporters from Sauk County will launch their Sauk County Livestock Scramble. Paula Brandt, one of those parents, says it was a challenge just to try and secure a facility that would allow them to bring livestock in. Ultimately, the Juneau County Fairgrounds in Mauston agreed to the temporary event.
Brandt says they’ve also arranged for a special “support” auction. There will be no animals transferred, but the on line auction allows individuals and businesses to contribute financially. The money will be used to offset the expense of the show, with the remaining monies distributed to the kids involved with the show.
