The largest organic production conference in the country is signing into an online format for 2021 because of COVID-19.
MOSES Organic Conference had 2,700 attendees and 170 exhibitors register for the annual event at the La Crosse Center in 2020. Executive Director Lauren Langworthy said most conferences welcome guests from 48 states and nearly 20 countries.
“Even though our event is right here in La Crosse and it feels very homey, we’re also an international state for some really groundbreaking ideas that are happening in agriculture,” Landworthy said at the 2020 conference.
Organizers had already anticipated a smaller event in 2021 because of a $42 million expansion project currently taking place at the La Crosse Center.
La Crosse Center Manager Art Fahey told his board of directors the La Crosse Center had a deficit of $230,000 in the first half of 2020. Most of the debt came from event cancellations.
