Dane County Ultimately Cancels 2020 Dairy Event

Organizers of Dane County’s Breakfast on the Farm met this week to
discuss the status of the annual event. Originally scheduled for June 13, and then postponed to August 1, the Dane County Dairy Promotion Committee (DCDPC), after careful consideration, has made the difficult decision not to move forward with the event in 2020.
“The health and safety of our guests, farm family, volunteers, sponsors and the community at large are our top priorities, and we simply couldn’t justify hosting an event with so many uncertainties,” said Kristin Olson, media coordinator. “We are saddened to have to cancel for this year, but we look forward to next year’s event in Cambridge.”

The breakfast hosts lined up for this year, Duane and Tina Hinchley, have graciously agreed to host next year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, June 12, 2021. The Hinchley’s family farm is home to 240 cows, milked daily by a Lely robotic system, the latest in milking technology.

Meanwhile, the breakfast will move to Dane in 2022 as Haag Dairy, LLC – the Haag family – welcomes the community on Saturday, June 11.

The DCDPC’s mission is to promote the dairy community and consumption of dairy products by sponsoring local dairy events , providing dairy education in school programs and through scholarships. To continue the dairy celebration beyond National Dairy Month, the committee and its generous sponsors will be holding a Milk Muscles photo contest on social media, with the top three winners receiving Wisconsin cheese baskets, and the top ten finalists receiving commemorative t-shirts. The contest will kick off this Wednesday, July 1, and run through July 31st. Visit the Breakfast on the Farm Facebook page for complete details.

About Pam Jahnke

Getting up at 2 in the morning might shock some of her listeners, but for Pam Jahnke, it’s part of the business. Born in Northeastern Wisconsin, Pam Jahnke grew up in agriculture. Raised on her family’s 200-acre dairy farm, she learned the “farm work ethic” first hand.
