Washington County Stages On Line Livestock Auction

An online auction of market animals raised by Washington County youth will be held July 10 and 11. The auction will feature beef steers, market hogs, and market lambs that otherwise would have been shown and sold at the cancelled Washington County Fair.

Youth have been working on their projects for many months, and in some cases since last year. Local volunteers got together to coordinate an online auction to allow these youths to sell their projects.

With the recent disruption in supply chain this auction offers an opportunity to purchase locally raised, high quality meat while supporting area youth. All animals have a guaranteed processing date; this is especially important as many processors are completely booked and are currently taking appointments well into 2021.

Bidders will have the opportunity to purchase the animal outright or to donate a set amount toward an exhibitor. Farmers Grain and Feed, LLC of Allenton, WI, donated the funds to sponsor the web hosting expenses of the sale meaning all proceeds go directly into the youths’ pockets.

The sale will be posted early next week at https://badgerstateauction.hibid.com/

About Pam Jahnke

Getting up at 2 in the morning might shock some of her listeners, but for Pam Jahnke, it’s part of the business. Born in Northeastern Wisconsin, Pam Jahnke grew up in agriculture. Raised on her family’s 200-acre dairy farm, she learned the “farm work ethic” first hand.
