The Crawford County Fair announced Thursday it will not host its annual event originally scheduled for August 27-30.
“After consideration of the health and societal issues surrounding the Covid-19 Pandemic, it is with an extreme deal of sadness and regret that the difficult decision to cancel the Crawford County Fair was made.”
In a statement released by Fair Coordinator Laurie Cauffman, organizers recognized how COVID-19 has negatively impacted important moments, experiences and milestones.
“The cancellation of the fair brings a great deal of disappointment to those people who plan, attend, exhibit, participate and support the fair. However, the safety and well-being of all involved are of the utmost importance.”
Difficulty limiting attendees, enforcing social distancing, maintaining a high level of sanitation were listed as factors as well as the liability risks of hosting such an event in a pandemic.
