The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and Discovery Farms at University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension are hosting a webinar on precision agriculture at noon on Tuesday, June 9th.
Increasing profitability with precision agriculture featuring farmer Jeff Lake
June’s webinar will focus on the use of precision agriculture in conservation and farm planning, featuring Jeff Lake, a farmer from Boyceville and member of the Hay River Farmer-Led Watershed Council. The concept of sub-field precision agriculture planning clearly demonstrates to producers what parts of a field make them the most profit and which areas are consistently costing them money to farm. Following evaluation of farm-specific data, options for management changes or conservation practices are identified as ways to address these under-performing acres to improve productivity while also building soil health, and providing water quality and wildlife habitat benefits. The webinar will cover this process in more detail as well as specific conservation practices commonly considered in this approach. Scott Stipetich of Pheasants Forever and a key partner on this project will also join the discussion.
