The list of county fairs that have been canceled for 2020 continues to grow as the days pass. In the last week alone, Rock County, Door County, and Jefferson County have all called off their 2020 plans and set their sights on 2021. On June 1st, three more fairs were added to the cancellations list: Waukesha County Fair, Washington County Fair, and the Northern WI State Fair.
According to a statement, “For the first time in its nearly 123-year history, the Northern Wisconsin State Fair (NWSF) will not go on as planned.Essential to this year’s preparations are the directives of county, state, national and international health agencies, and the ever-evolving COVID-19 pandemic we find ourselves in. Due to the limitations placed on large public gatherings in terms of logistics, size, and first and foremost, the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, vendors, fair-goers, exhibitors and their families, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone the 2020 NWSF previously slated for July 8-12. We are now working harder than ever to prepare for the 2021 NWSF scheduled for July 7-11 with this year’s Main Stage entertainment already locked in for the new year at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Chippewa Falls.”
The 2020 Waukesha County Fair says “llease know that we are still working through alternate opportunities for our exhibitors in both the livestock and competitive exhibit areas. We will have more definitive details in the coming weeks but are dedicated to having this come together and showcase the entries through our online platform in some way. Our exhibitor entries have been open and entries are currently due June 15th.”
According to their website, the Washington County Fair has been rescheduled for July 20th-25th, 2021. For a full list of county fairs that have been canceled, please click right here.
