To comply with COVID-19 guidelines, Cows on the Concourse will be going virtual this year instead of holding the regular event in downtown Madison on the Capitol Square. From June 1 to 5, Cows on the Concourse will be going live on Facebook to showcase different aspects of the dairy industry to give viewers and families a little taste of the event this year.
Here is the following schedule for the week:
- Monday, June 1: What is Cows on the Concourse without cows? We’ve got you covered! At 3:30 p.m., Sydney Endres, with Jazzy Jerseys in Lodi, will provide viewers with a live tour of her family’s dairy farm and milking parlor.
- Tuesday, June 2: If you miss getting a melt-in-your-mouth grilled cheese at Cows on the Concourse, you won’t want to miss this! At 3 p.m., Angie Edge, with Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, will be live to give a specialty grilled cheese cooking demonstration utilizing products from local dairy farms.
- Wednesday, June 3: A long-time partner of Cows on the Concourse, Sassy Cow Creamery will be taking over the Cows on the Concourse Facebook account! At 10 a.m., Jen Orchard, with Sassy Cow, will go live with a tour of their farm and creamery.
- Thursday, June 4: Everybody loves seeing the cute calves at Cows on the Concourse. At 3:30 p.m., Sydney Endres and the Jazzy Jerseys team will be live again to show us how they care for their newborn calves.
- Friday, June 5: At 6:30 p.m., we will have music from Soggy Prairie, a bluegrass band out of Sun Prairie and a Cows on the Concourse tradition.
- Scavenger Hunt: Throughout the week, a daily clue will be posted to the Facebook page and the answer will be within that day’s live video. Answers can be submitted using the Google Form pinned on the Facebook page. The first 20 viewers to submit all five correct answers will receive a prize courtesy of the Dane County Ag Teachers.
“National Dairy Month is still going to happen, and Cows on the Concourse is a part of that tradition,” said Brandon Maly, Cows on the Concourse committee chair. “This was the safest option for our volunteers and attendees, and we look forward to a fun week promoting the dairy industry!”
