Some of the area’s University of Wisconsin-Extension agriculture agents are reporting that alfalfa around the region is nearing cutting time, reaching that magic balance of feed quality and tonnage. It will be a couple days though, those agents predict.
Than additional note that the hay crop might not be ready for those couple days seems to be working nicely, where the weather is concerned — forecasts are for some rain to occasionally fall until Thursday.
The hay harvest is one for which all across the countryside — farmers and non-farmers alike — cheer, the first cutting of that crop spreading its trademark aroma throughout the land.
Another trademark of the coming of summer’s warmth is delineated in fields across the region with the emergence of the season’s corn, soybeans and other crops planted during the past couple of weeks.
It’s all good to experience.
