Since consumers started catching wind of how covid-19 was impacting the food supply, they’ve been reconnecting with their local butchers. That’s turned into a sudden surge of business for butchers across the state.
Jerry Stoddard, Stoddard’s Market in Cottage Grove, is one of those. Stoddard tells Pam Jahnke that he saw business start to grow back in March. “They’re buying everything we’ve got in the showcase!” Stoddard says. Beef, pork, chicken – all locally sourced – are in high demand. Stoddard says he and his staff are basically working 7 days a week to try and keep up!
