Even now 2019 has not completely “left” a lot of Wisconsin farms.
Due to the wet conditions and sudden onslaught of winter last fall, plenty of Wisconsin farms fell behind on the harvest, and any fall tillage. That means that we’re looking at an abundance of weed seeds that are there ready to cause problems for farmers this spring.
Nick Groth, Agronomist with Syngenta, says now more than ever, farms need to have a critical and strategic plan on handling weeds early. He said it’s going to be challenging given the parameters of covid-19 and agribusinesses protecting their employees – but scouting will be a must.
