The School District of Arcadia, the Whitehall School District, and Kwik Trip proudly announced a new partnership. Kwik Trip became the supplier of all milk for the two school districts as they continue to feed students during the school closures due to the health emergency caused by COVID-19.
The two school districts moved to bulk food distribution for student meals and are supplying food seven days per week for children under the age of 18. Food is distributed to families every Wednesday.
“We’re in a time right now where partnerships and togetherness are what will get all of us through this,” Arcadia School District Superintendent Lance Bagstad said.
Families receive USDA-approved meals which include one or more gallons of milk based on the number of children in the household.
This is the first partnership that Kwik Trip has forged with school districts to supply milk. Kwik Trip hopes to use this as a pilot for the potential of expanding their partnerships to include supplying milk to more schools on a regular basis for their USDA lunch programs.
The school districts and Kwik Trip expressed optimism as it not only is a positive for the school districts by partnering with a company that employs many residents in the districts, but it is also a benefit for the local farm economy. Kwik Trip sources all of its milk from dairy farmers within a 100-mile radius of their company headquarters in La Crosse, Wis.
“This partnership is one that benefits families, a local employer, and the farm economies around our area,” Arcadia School District Superintendent Lance Bagstad said.
