“I’ve found a lot of people go to YouTube to try to forget what’s going on around them,” says YouTuber and farmer Ryan Kuster. “With the virus going around I would say that my content really hasn’t changed all that much.” But, he admits that right now it’s all about finding a delicate balance with his videos.
Kuster runs the wildly popular “How Farms Work” YouTube Channel from his family’s farm in Grant County. Kuster’s been posting videos of his daily life on the farm since 2012 and has been operating the channel full time since 2015. At the time this article was published “How Farms Work” had over 73,000,000 channel views.
As the Potosi native continues to entertain his audience, Kuster explains that some people have even thanked him for not bringing up the COVID-19 pandemic and providing them an escape in these tough times.
Ryan has had to not only post videos for his dedicated audience in the wake of COVID-19, but another disaster as well. Recently, Grant County and the surrounding area experienced damaging tornadoes. “Thankfully no one was hurt in the storm…we started getting phone calls saying that buildings were down and cows were now free range.”
Through it all, though, Kuster keeps a positive attitude and continues to entertain. Josh Scramlin recently caught up with Kuster and you can hear their full conversation by clicking the play button below:
