In the wake of the recent dairy news, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin has this message for dairy farmers: “Our hearts are with you, we’re working as hard as we can to help keep this thing moving forward…and we’re doing what your checkoff dollars are here for, driving markets and promoting trust.”
Vincent has been on the phone nonstop this week with industry leaders and dairy farmers alike. Vincent says some producers have called saying they are frustrated and confused as they go to grocery stores and see that dairy products are sold out but at the same time their “milk checks have fallen off the face of the earth.”
The million dollar question that Vincent asks: Why are retailers limiting purchases of dairy products? On a recent call with grocery store owners Vincent asked them to please stop limiting dairy purchases as “farmers need the volume.” The grocers responded in saying that they limit product as a way to protect people from hoarders. “They want so sell as much milk as you do…and as much as cheese as you do, but they have to make sure there is some left for everybody,” Vincent explains.
In the last two weeks, Vincent says, milk sales have been up by 30%-50% and are positive for the first time in decades.
Vincent joins Pam Jahnke to discuss that situation, as well as DFW’s efforts in the current climate, and much more. That conversation can be heard by clicking the play button below:

As a farmer for over 60 years raising wheat, beef and having a dairy I NEVER got a subsidy! The government ALWAYS made a profit on my produce. Consider: The average for wheat is 43 bushels per acre X 60 # per bushel = 2580 loaves of bread X $2.50 per loaf = $6450 X 8% sales tax = $ 516 the government got, not to mention the other taxes we paid. But they claimed they gave us a subsidy of something like $45 per acre. But $516 – $45 = $ 471 per acre the government got off us. This is true with almost every commodity such as oil and autos. and even banks paid in $ trillions in taxes so the so- called “bailouts” were just the Gov. giving back a pittance of what were paid in taxes.

I could not find any flour in the 3 stores I went to. If it isn’t in the stores we can’t help you.

I think there is another component to limiting purchases. The store wants more frequent visitation….Very unscrupulous considering the stay at home orders….

It’s our money we should be able to buy as much as we want,if you don’t like it then tell the factory’s to ramp up production

Why isn’t there any organic milk? If there isn’t any in the stores we can’t buy it.
