Milk wasn’t the only commodity that saw an increase this fall across Wisconsin. Corn and soybean prices also showed increases.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service has reported corn was at $3.76 per bushel during October, and soybean prices averaged $8.53 per bushel.
The corn price was a 7-cent increase compared with the September price, and was 38 cents more than it was in October of 2018.
The soybean price was 36 cents more than in September, but 17 cents less than in October of 2018.
The service also reported that oats were at $3.57 per bushel, a 50-cent increase from September and 83 cents more than in October of 2018.
Hay prices also rose, with alfalfa at $213 per ton — up $23 compared with September and $48 more than a year ago; all other hay averaged $149 a ton, a $14 increase compared with September and a $17 increase compared with October of 2018.
