We wanted to inform you about three hemp educational and networking opportunities that will be offered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension. Meetings will be held on December 5 on the eastern and western sides of the state.
There will be two meetings in western Wisconsin, one starting at 10:00 am in Melrose, WI and the other at 1:30 pm in Hillsboro, WI.
These meetings are for people interested in growing hemp next year and who want to learn more. Participants will have the opportunity to choose either the morning or afternoon meeting. The agenda and speakers will be the same for both. The meeting will feature Dr. Shelby Ellison from the UW-Madison Dept. of Horticulture discussing CBD hemp, Carl Duley the Buffalo County Agriculture Extension Agent discussing industrial hemp for grain and fiber, and a regulatory session presented by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), discussing licensing and registration requirements for 2020. See attached flyer for more details. Limited seating is available.
To register or for more information: contact Jamie Pfaff for the Melrose location meeting ([email protected] or 715-284-4257); or Ashley Olson ([email protected] or 608-637-5276) for the Hillsboro location meeting.
The third meeting will be held in De Pere, WI from 9:30 am-6:00 pm.
This meeting is for intermediate-level growers and others in the industry, however all are welcome to attend. This meeting will provide an opportunity for growers to connect with buyers, processors, and others within the hemp industry. The agenda includes a grower panel (small, medium, and large scale farms), post-harvest panel (consultant, processor, retailer), Wisconsin research updates, and a regulatory session presented by DATCP to discuss licensing and registration requirements for 2020. In addition, there will be lots of built-in time for networking including registration, lunch, afternoon break, and social hour. Early bird rate is $45/person (due Nov 18) and includes continental breakfast, lunch, social hour refreshments, and printed proceedings. General registration rate is $60/person (Nov 19 or later). The first 25 people to complete a hemp buyer profile to be included in the proceedings will receive one complimentary registration. Limited seating is available.
