The 2020 Farm Technology Days show in Eau Claire County will feature an Innovation Square in the annual show’s traditional Tent City to show some of the region’s lesser-known crops and food products.
The plan was unveiled by organizers Friday during state agriculture secretary Brad Pfaff’s visit to Huntsinger Farms, which will host the event July 21-23 on the western edge of Eau Claire. Huntsinger Farms and its condiment company, Silver Springs, is the world’s largest producer of horseradish.
Having Farm Technology Days on such a farm differs from the show’s past, with most shows having been held on dairy, livestock or grain farms. The Innovation Square will further highlight the region’s non-traditional agriculture with products such as apples, red kidney beans, hydroponic lettuce and fish, cranberries, specialty cheeses, hemp, and rye.
The show also will continue a focus on more traditional farm products, including tours of a neighboring dairy farm.
“We’re really proud of where we’ve been A lot of the people coming in to showcase their products at Innovation Square at Farm Technology Days are doing some amazing things,” said Eric Rygg, president of Huntsinger Farms and Silver Springs. “…It’s just mind-boggling what some of these guys are doing, and they’re our neighbors.”
