The decision to select Roehl Acres of Loyal to host the 2022 Farm Technology Days in Clark County wasn’t an easy one, according to the event’s Executive Committee chairman.
The chairman, Chuck Rueth of Loyal, said a discussions went deep during the committee’s work to select the host from a half-dozen county farms that had applied to host the show.
“I wouldn’t use the word heated, but it was a good discussion on everything that we did, and it finally turned out to be Roehl Acres,” Rueth said.
Three of the candidate sites were in the northern part of the county, two in the central area and one in the southern area of the county. Rueth said any of the farms would have served as good Farm Technology Days hosts.
Rueth said the Roehl farm, along with the Rustic Occasions exhibition barn owned by relatives down the road from the dairy operation, had a little more to offer than the other applications.
“Each and every one of the applications brought a lot to the table,” he said. “I was very, very impressed with what we could do with it. Roehls have a rustic barn, and they just had a perfect layout on Tent City.”
Wisconsin Farm Technology Days officials recently announced that they wouldn’t be continuing with plans for a 2021 Farm Technology Days show as originally scheduled at the Jefferson County Fair Park. Pulling the plug on that show might create issues with the next year’s hosts – Clark County – with recruiting exhibitors. Rueth, however, said the Clark County organizers are up to that challenge.
I’m up for the challenge; we’re going to make it work, and we’re not going to skip a beat,” he said.
Roehl Acres, south of Loyal, milks about 500 registered cows with about 750 acres cropped. The operation is owned by Dennis and Suzie Roehl.
The Clark County Farm Technology Days show will be July 12-14, 2022. The 2020 Farm Technology Days will be July 21-23 at Huntsinger Farms near Eau Claire, in Eau Claire County.
