The working group for developing a new Eau Claire County confined animal feeding operation ordinance has completed its work.
The committee on March 26 approved an ordinance that essentially follows Wisconsin NR-151 CAFO guidelines.
The rul will go to the county’s Land Conservation Committee. If it’s approved by that committee, it will be considered by the Eau Claire County Board.
County board members last week extended a county CAFO moratorium for two months — into June — so that the working group and committee could complete its work during the moratorium period, which had been put into place in October.
The CAFO rules apply to farms that have at least 1,000 animal units. Eau Claire County has one CAFO operation.
