Wisconsin cheesemakers continued their international winning streak at the World Cheese Awards in Bergen, Norway this month. The state took home 24 awards – about a quarter of the total awards given to the United States, including a ‘Major Winner’ award in the ‘Best Vintage Cheddar’ category.
Wisconsin companies earned multiple awards at this year’s competition, including Roth Cheese (7 awards), Sartori Cheese (6 awards), Carr Valley Cheese (4 awards), Marieke Gouda (3 awards), Deer Creek Cheese (2 awards), V&V Supremo Foods, Inc. (1 awards) and Ponderosa Dairy Products (1 award). Deer Creek’s Imperial Buck also received a ‘Major Winner’ award in the ‘Best Vintage Cheddar’ category.
The World Cheese Awards, now in its 30th year, received a record-breaking 3,500 entries from every corner of the globe were judged by 230 experts from 29 nations around the world. A truly global cheese event, the World Cheese Awards has been bringing together cheesemakers, retailers, buyers, consumers and food commentators worldwide for over three decades.
