If a four-year college degree seems too pricey, Blackhawk Technical College instructor Dustin Williams says an education at a technical school may be more marketable anyway. They provide hands-on learning, build your resume beyond the classroom, and offer multiple specializations.
At the Monroe campus, he told Bobbi Jo about their three programs: Farm Management; a 1-year program in agribusiness complete with a commercial applicator license and CDL; and an associate’s degree with AI certification.
The college recently gained new state-of-the-art for students to work with including a new John Deere tractor, planter, and sprayer. These were made possible by a 2-year $380,000 grant. A new building equipped with a workshop, greenhouse, and laboratory are in the near future.
The job market is growing, and so are affordable ways to get a quality education.
