Internships are a great way for college students or recent graduates to learn more about the industry they strive to work in while getting a real world job experience. This summer young agriculturalist will have the opportunity to be the first ever interns at the FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative.
This internship would expose a young participant to various aspects of the dairy industry and the cooperative’s role serving processing plants and producers across the Midwest.
“We’re excited to introduce this wonderful opportunity for candidates interested in learning more about cooperatives and diving into a career within the dairy industry,” says Julie Sweney, Director of Communications at FarmFirst. “There’s a lot to learn when it comes to milk markets, federal orders as well as how federal and regional dairy policy impacts producers. This internship would focus on these industry matters in addition to visiting producers on their farm.”
FarmFirst’s 2018 summer internship program is unique as it aims to touch all three divisions of FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative, including the testing lab division, the milk marketing division and the member service division. Ideal candidates will have a background in dairy and a strong interest in member communications. Special projects will also be catered to the selected individual’s talent and interests.
“FarmFirst strongly believes in investing in our youth, and we wanted to make this opportunity available to share what FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative does and how soon-to-be college graduates can consider a cooperative as part of their future job options,” says John Rettler, board president of FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative.
The deadline for interested applicants to apply is January 15, 2018.
