Throughout South West Wisconsin people are still struggling with hunger. Current data suggests that 1 in 9 of our neighbors will be hungry today; 1 of 6 of them are children under the age of 18. The Second Harvest Food Bank of Wisconsin helps to provide food for over 1 million requests each year. One of the most sought after and often requested food items is milk, as of today Second harvest is able to meet about 1/4 of the demand for fresh milk.
Here is your chance to help, Second Harvest is currently in the middle of their Adopt-A-Dairy-Cow campaign, you can go to www.GiveDairy.com and “adopt” a day’s, a week’s or a months milk production of six cows. After your “adoption” Second Harvest even sends a Certificate of Adoption for the cow they sponsored.
The exciting part of this years campaign is the fact that Physicians Plus Insurance, Badgerland Financial and Heartland Credit Union had provided mating funds up to $22,000, so if you “adopt a cow” you are teaming up with sponsors to double that donation and helping twice as many hungry people.
To date Second Harvest is well on there way to archiving there goal of fund raising but they need your help to maximize there matching funds pledge from there sponsors.
