It was just eight short summers ago when the Kelley Family began what has become a very popular ice cream Shoppe. The family milks about 65 Holstein cows and wanted to add value to that milk and after multiple years of research and working with a Appleton milk processing company the Kelley’s now use milk their own cow’s milk to make award winning ice cream.
Karen Kelley sat down with Bryant recently and filled him in on the whole Kelley County Creamery history. From the beginning the focus has been on high quality products and customer service. All that attention to detail and quality has paid off as Kelley ice cream has won piles of awards in international competitions and in 2013 Good Morning America proclaimed their ice cream as the best in America.
Karen says that people really enjoy hearing the story of how the ice cream was made and the cows that helped to produce the delicious treats are just across the pasture from the ice cream shop, she says customers were originally pretty local but today people come from across the country.
Today Karen says her favorite part of the business is actually talking with customers and hearing how enjoying the farmstead ice cream brings back memories and she says being part of new memories being made is awfully rewarding too.
