Day Camps Expand Youths State Fair Experiences

Day Camps Expand Youths State Fair Experiences

Wisconsin State Fair has announced that registration is now open for 2017 Fair Day Camps. Through hands-on workshops, team activities and more, youth of all ages will get a first-hand glimpse of how the Fair works and the people who make it all possible. Programs include Individual Day Camps, Fair Performer Fantasy Camp, Animal Career Day Camp and Group Day Camp. Youth entering grades 9-13 can also apply to be a Camp Counselor. All sessions will take place during the 2017 Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular®, Aug. 3 – 13.

 

Individual Day Camps (Grades 2-3-4-5) – Friday, Aug. 4 & Saturday, Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Camp activities:                Exploratory Park, farm animal care demonstrations and exploration, Discovery Barnyard, Giant Slide, taste of Wisconsin agricultural products, a craft, songs and hands-on educational activities

Partners:                              4-H counselors from Dodge, Washington and Ozaukee Co

Cost:                                      $15 per camper

 

Fair Performer Fantasy Camp (Grades 6-7-8) – Monday, Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Camp Activities:                 Interactive instruction in dance and voice with Kids from Wisconsin mentors, career exploration with entertainment industry professionals, Q&A session with a Fair performer, and perform live on a Fair stage

Partners:                             Kids from Wisconsin and Wisconsin State Fair Entertainment Department

Cost:                                      $30 per camper

 

Animal Career Day Camp (Grades 9-10-11) – Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Camp Activities:                Animal handling, behavior, animal career shadowing

Cost:                                      $30 per camper

 

Group Day Camp (all ages) – Friday, Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Camp activities:                Self-guided tours: Exploratory Park, Discovery Barnyard, Pig Races, Giant Slide, Youth Expo, Barn tours, House of Moo

Cost:                                      $8 per Camper

 

To register, visit http://wistatefair.com/fair/day-camp/. Registration fees include Fair Admission, a t-shirt, backpack, camp supplies, snacks and lunch (except where noted). Applications will be accepted until June 30 or until all programs are full.
