A well-established vendor-run, producer-only neighborhood farmers’ market will open April 15 in a new location on Madison’s near west side.
The Westside Community Market, a Saturday farmers’ market that for years met in the Hill Farms parking lot off Segoe Road, will open in a new location this spring. Beginning April 15, the market will set up behind the UW Health Digestive Health Center, at the corner of University Avenue and University Row.
“The Hill Farms area is under construction, and while we may return there down the road, we’re pretty excited to call the UW Health Digestive Health Center our new home,” Market Manager Ben Zimmerman said. “One of the aspects many folks have enjoyed about our market is plenty of free parking, and that’s not going to change.”
The Westside Community Market is well-known as a dynamic market for Wisconsin farmers, nursery owners, and artisanal food producers, as vendors have the option of signing up for 10-week sessions during the 30-week market season. This allows highly seasonal produce and foods to shine during the spring, summer and fall. The market runs from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays from April 15 through November 4.
The producer-only market features vendors exclusively from Wisconsin, giving customers assurance that products are produced locally. Products range from fresh produce and bakery items to artisan cheeses, honey, herbs and meat, to fresh flowers, plants and more.
